Before a client call
Review the latest brief and new messages. Ask what changed since you last spoke and which questions still need an answer.
A property purchase. A customer issue. A project with months of back-and-forth. Give it a Matter: one place for the emails, documents, people, and notes involved.
See what changed, ask questions about the records, and prepare a brief you can share. Come back tomorrow without starting the whole story again.
Part of the Talavine desktop app. Free during the public preview.
The agreement may be in one thread, a changed deadline in another, and the detail that explains it in a document. Matters keeps the relevant pieces together so your next question or draft starts with more of the picture.
Review the latest brief and new messages. Ask what changed since you last spoke and which questions still need an answer.
Keep the original scope, later requests, decisions, and people involved in the same workspace. Trace a change back to the record behind it.
Put the quote, approvals, invoices, and replies in date order. Compare what each side says with the documents you have.
Six connected views let you move from the overview to a particular message, person, or unanswered question.
Read the current brief, see what arrived since your last visit, and find what needs your attention. Choose to keep the brief updated as new evidence arrives, or refresh it yourself.
Review related messages, files, people, and collection ideas. Accept what belongs, dismiss what doesn't, or choose Look deeper to broaden the search.
Browse the linked emails and files, open the originals, or walk through the chronology. Conversations are grouped so a long reply chain is easier to follow.
Keep the client, advisor, contractor, and other people together. Assign their roles and explore how they connect through the records in the Matter.
Keep notes, points you want to establish, and the sources that support or challenge them. Write your own account alongside the AI's draft.
Set rules for people, conversations, subjects, or companies. Narrow them by account, dates, and words that matter to this job. Choose automatic collection or review first.
Start a Matter from a contact, email, or document, or create one from scratch. Choose a template for the kind of work and describe what you want to understand or finish.
Quick setup helps find related people and records. Review the proposed collection rules and selected sources, then choose Start collecting.
Matching mail can join the Matter under the rules you chose. Review suggestions and new arrivals, remove unrelated items, and refine a rule when it brings in too much. You can also turn on automatic brief updates.
Ask a focused question, write or refresh the brief, and open its source links to check the details. You can edit your own account without the generated brief replacing it.
Collection uses the mail available to Talavine while the app is running and your accounts are syncing. Suggested records still need your judgment; adding a Matter does not connect new accounts.
Write a summary from the Matter's records, compare it with the previous version, and export it as PDF or Word. For a fuller handoff, export an evidence packet with a source index and text from sources you've chosen to preserve.
The brief includes links to its sources, so you can check a date, promise, or conclusion against the record. It also shows when the Matter has changed since the brief was written.
Use Preserve sources to save copies of available source content. Simply linking a message doesn't protect its original from deletion; preserve important material before it disappears.
Review the brief or packet before passing it to a client, colleague, or advisor. Your Matter stays in your local Talavine profile; you choose which exported material leaves it.
AI drafts need review. If you use online AI, relevant information is sent under your settings. Missing records can leave gaps in a brief or answer.
No. A Matter is a workspace for something you need to understand or follow through on: a client project, property purchase, insurance claim, hiring process, repair, or dispute. Templates offer a starting set of roles, questions, and brief sections; you choose what fits.
You choose the records and collection rules. Rules can bring in matching mail automatically or leave it for review; topic-based suggestions need review. Collection works with mail available to Talavine while the app is running and accounts are syncing. Files and other related records can be added or accepted from suggestions.
Yes. Ask this Matter uses its linked records for questions such as what changed, who promised what, or which point is still unresolved. Open the supporting sources and check important details. A record you haven't added can still change the answer.
Export a brief as PDF or Word, or save an HTML evidence packet with a source index. You can include text from sources you've preserved. Review the contents before sharing. The Matter itself is saved in your local Talavine profile; exporting a document doesn't give someone access to your workspace.
One client, purchase, project, or problem. Bring the records into your data hub, give them a Matter, and build from there.
